Continental believes that the risk of accidents on Britain's roads could be significantly reduced if tyres* were replaced at a tread depth of 3mm instead of 1.6mm. In the wet, the difference between 1.6mm and 3mm of tread depth could be the difference between stopping in time or hitting an obstacle at 50mph. In wet conditions, it took a Ford Focus 91m to stop with 3mm of tread. In the same car with the legal limit of 1.6mm of tread it took 135m to stop - 50% further. Choosing a tyre can be difficult. They look similar and until you get them on the car, you don't know how they are going to perform out on the road. Watch this wet braking test to see the difference between a set of premium tyres and a set of cheaper budget tyres that look similar but perform very differently on the road. The budget tyre took an average of 14 metres or 3 and 1/2 car lengths extra to stop. When the premium tyre had come to a stop, the car on budget tyres was still travelling at 31mph.

It's light-grey and doesn't change much from the older model, at least as far as I'm concerned. The front might be more squarish, and the rear lights too. But it wasn't a revolutionary revamp or anything! 1977 Lincoln Continental Town CarJan 10, 2012
Here is a short video of my 1977 Lincoln Continental Town Car. I purchased this car back in 2006 locally here for a steal. I literally saved this car from becoming a victim of another demolition derby. I paid only $650 for the car and it was nearly rust free other than the rear bumper. The owner no longer had the space for it and just wanted to get rid of it. I replaced the rear chrome bumper as part of the restoration (or refurbishing) with a nice used one from Connecticut. The inner structure of the rear bumper was rebuilt at a metal fabricator where they welded in brand new thicker plate onto what was left of the inner bumper. Looking at the car you would never know I rebuilt the entire rear bumper section. It now is as good as new if not better. The rear bumpers of these cars (Ford LTD's and Mercury Marquis' of the same year were similar) are quite complicated in design and heavy. Other than the rear bumper issue the car still had the factory undercoating and oil guard on the underside. The rest of the car was in great condition. I gave the car a complete clean-up and detail and with new brakes and tires a few months later, the car was like new again. This car has been an ongoing project, but nothing major or anything I can't tackle myself. I did replace the carpet myself last year and had the door panels re-sewn to match at the bottom (due to fading over the years). I also replaced the dash cap with a matching Dark Jade one. I do plan on having the vinyl top redone ...

For roughly 40 nights a year, a small patch of blacktop in Downtown Los Angeles becomes the most sought after real estate in Southern California. It's a parking lot across the street from the Staples Center, home of the LA Lakers NBA team, and unless you're a season ticket holder or Kobe Bryant's mother you're not getting in. Or so we thought. We drive by to get a look before the game. There's a half million dollars' worth of cars in the front row alone, and a stone-faced attendant at the gate. Under normal circumstances we would have kept right on going, but we're driving a 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur sedan so we try our luck and turn in. The attendant takes one look at the car, smiles and waves us through the gate like he was expecting us. We try not to look surprised when he directs us into a space between a Ferrari F430 and an Aston Martin DB9. Another security guard standing watch assures us the Spur will be safe. Neither one asks to see our tickets. Just a few years ago this glimpse into how the other half lives would have never happened. Back then, Bentleys looked old and were driven by people who looked even older. Other than the Bentley name, the cars didn't have much going for them. This Bentley is modified by Arden. As you can see, the "Flying B" on the hood is reïnstated. They've also fitted it with a custom exhaustsystem, a new front bumper with LED's and some details inside. The 6.0L W12 biturbo delivers over 620bhp. This means that it will go from 0-00kmh in about 4 seconds. The four-wheel-drive system makes sure that you have no wheelspin what so ever and that it really 'jumps' off the line when you floor it.

This Lincoln Continental is one of the less driven cars in my car collection it has no 12k miles Originals it has never been restored or something like that, it works absoulutely everything ,power windows,powered locks, it has a working MAGAZINE, its really in a mint condition as you can see it, it runs a V8 Ford 400ci (6.6lt) . The 1979 Collector's Series Mark V was equipped essentially the same as the Diamond Jubilee Edition of 1978; virtually every Lincoln luxury was provided as standard equipment on these cars. Offered in just two colors initially, Midnight Blue Moondust Metallic and White, two additional colors, Light Silver Moondust Metallic and Crystal Blue Moondust Metallic, were offered later in the year.The "Collector's Series" option almost doubled the retail price of the standard Continental Mark V to almost $22000 US dollars, The Mark V version truly was limited with production of just 5159 cars.
