Philip Porter chats with Henry Pearman of Eagle E-Type about their cars on display at this years Salon Prive event held at Syon park. A few hours after this video was done, the black Lightweight E-Type in the video was taken to the Top Gear Studio where they did a feature on it. About Philip Porter: Philip is the author of more than 25 books, mostly on motoring subjects. He has written four with Sir Stirling Moss and one with Murray Walker, plus about 15 on Jaguars. He has twice won the coveted Montagu Trophy awarded by the Guild of Motoring Writers for the best motoring book of the year. His latest book is Ultimate E-type -- The Competition Cars. Philip's small collection includes 9600 HP, the oldest surviving E-type, and 848 CRY, the red roadster in the film, The Italian Job. He also runs the International Jaguar XK Club, the Jaguar E-type Club and publishers Porter Press International. The Warren R. Henry Creative Charters Private Car was filmed on November 22, 2008 with the Amtrak Texas Eagle #22 AMTK 127 as the lead unit on main track #1. Built in 1955 for the Union Pacific Railroad, this dome car features panoramic viewing upstairs, a formal dining room or boardroom for meetings and a beautifully appointed lower level lounge with satellite TV, DVD, and CD player. A complete bar is located on the lower level. There is an opener rear platform as well. The Warren R. Henry Creative Charters Private Car can hold up to 22 passengers, the dining area can seat 12, and the lounge area of the car can seat 22. A Dealer Comparison video aid for New Eagle Dealers. This car was the platform used by Chrysler to create the LH series of cars. Please note that the vehicles used in this product sport the Renault Diamond Emblem. These cars were produced while Chrysler was aquiring AMC from Renault in the Summer/Fall of 1987. I personally recall seeing my first Premier at the Chrysler Zone Office in Natick Massachusetts. At that time, it did have a Renault Emblem. This car later was used at the Boston Auto Show and had had the the Diamond Emblem removed and the new Eagle Emblem in it's place.

This is Part 1 of the Eagle (formerly AMC) Dealers introduction to the Premier. 45546 cars were produced in 1988. The Premier was a joint designed car between AMC and it's Parent, Renault. The car is based off the Renault 25. The major styling differences were made by Giorgetto Giufiaro of Turin Italy. The Premier differs from the 25 in front end styling and a trunk rather than the 25's Hatchback design. Most of the interior design wad done by Richard Teague, the former design head of AMC. The aquisitioni of AMC by Chrysler gave Chrysler a car with Independant front and rear suspensions as well as a front drive car with a longitude designed engine rather than a transverse mounted engine. Chrysler would have had to spend millions to play catch up with Ford and GM in this area. They didn't have those combinations on any Chrysler Product. This car served as the basis of the LH series of Cars that Chrysler launched in 1993
