Lengthy "live" television commercial introducing various model's of the Ford Motor Company's most notorious "disaster", The Edsel. Manufactured and marketed during the 1958, 1959, and 1960 model years. The Edsel never gained popularity with contemporary American car buyers and sold poorly. Consequently, the Ford Motor Company lost millions of dollars on the Edsel's development, manufacture, and marketing. In its first model year (1958), 63110 Edsels were sold in the United States; an additional 4935 units were sold in Canada. Though below expectations, this nevertheless represented the second-largest launch for any new car brand to date, Ford announced the end of the Edsel program on Thursday, November 19, 1959. However, production continued until late in November, with the final tally at 2846 1960 models. Total sales for the three years were approximately 84000, less than half the company's projected break-even point. The company lost $350 million ($2.45 billion in 2009 values) on the venture.[1] Only 118287 Edsels were built, including 7440 produced in Ontario,

This is a very Clean 1959 Edsel ranger 2door hardtop.This car is beyond nice and has a great history being formerly owned by the editor of OSR and Ck Deluxe magazines and being in half a dozen or so issues of those mags.It started as a solid Georgia car and starting in 2004 began a nice journey to the slick mild Kustom it is today. Since 2004 it has had the folowing done. Painless wiring New interior Pearl white /black roll and pleats New carpet, headliner, and doorpanels Fresh rebuilt C6 trans High torque starter BFG Silvertown wide white radial tires 57 Fairlane bullet caps Chrome dummy spots Bumpers rechromed all stainless polished Fresh paint with candy flake red/orange roof and coves All emblems and side mirrors shaved correctly. New aluminum duals with cherry bomb glasspacks Chrome pencil tips ot the rear Rebuilt front end. Rebuilt carb Lowered 3" in the rear and 4" in the front sets level and rides great. this car has an exceptional body and is very nice underneath. One of a kind! Edsel only owned 3 cars in his lifetime..this is one! He secretly had it built in Cologne, Germany by Deutsch. It had some special modifications, with a 1935 radiator shell and hood louvers. Note the very large doors...and the interior is a work of art. It sported electric windshield wipers, semaphore type turn signals and a tachometer. Beautiful hood ornament crafted by Jacques Cartier! Gorgeous two tone green paint, Brewster wire wheels! Everything was the best..as you might expect, for the president of Ford Motor Company...yet he felt he had to hide it from his father.

This is an amazing car! It's Edsel Ford's 1934 Model 40 Speedster car. None of the new cars at the car show were as cool as this old Edsel. This car sold 3 years ago for $1760000 before it was restored to this condition by RM Auto Restoration in Ontario Canada. The engine is 239-cid, 100-bhp 09A Mercury V-8 was. This was the most powerful version of the Ford flathead V-8 available at the time.
