"RIVETING... HIGHLY ENTERTAINING" - John Lopez, Vanity Fair In 2006, as many as 5000 modern electric cars were destroyed by the major car companies that built them.Today, less than 5 years later, the electric car is back... with a vengeance. "Revenge Of The Electric Car" follows 4 larger-than-life entrepreneurs at the forefront of the electric car race. First, there's Bob Lutz -- Mr Detroit himself, the cigar-smoking vice-chairman of GM, who has been making gas-guzzling cars his entire career. He is challenged by Elon Musk, the young dot-com maverick billionaire who thinks that he can show Detroit how to build cars with his Silicon Valley-based Tesla Motors. Carlos Ghosn of Nissan-Renault, the desperately smart and ruthless businessman who singlehandedly rescued Nissan from ruin, wants to flood the market with affordable mainstream electric vehicles. And lastly, "Gadget" Abbott, a reverend/designer/engineer is one of thousands of electric car DIY-ers who together may be a force big enough to change the auto industry forever. "Revenge Of The Electric Car" opens in the US beginning Oct. 21. The Volt battery has gone through numerous environment-specific tests, including corrosion and hot- and cold-weather testing and the results were so promising that the 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is backed by an 100000 mile/8-year warranty(3). Here are a few more notes on the battery: Just plug it in to charge the battery, and most people can commute gas-free and tailpipe emissions-free for about $1.50 of electricity per day. A small, quiet on-board gas generator creates electricity that powers your Volt as you drive for hundreds of miles on battery and gas power. Lithium-ion cells outperform nickel metal hydride cells (found in today's hybrids) in terms of life cycle A liquid thermal cooling and heating system keeps the battery at a comfortable temperature as it's being charged and discharged Here are a few more advantages Commute gas-free on electric for an average of $1.50 a day Can be set to charge during off-peak hours for greater savings Your Volt will be fully charged in about 10 hours, depending on climate, with standard 120-volt line, or as little as 4 hours using a dedicated 240-volt line Some Volt owners may qualify for tax rebates on a SPX Service Solutions - installed charging unit Innovation everywhere Volt offers the performance and forward-thinking you've come to expect from Chevrolet. China is now selling a new Chery electric car for $9000. Don't let Congress know. As soon as our elected officials find out, they will impose a tariff against the Chinese cars, to punish the American people, by driving the price of the new electric car so high, we won't be able to afford one. Henry Ford made Fords so affordable, anyone could buy one. Now China is making electric cars so affordable, anyone can afford one. Congress is opposed to anything that can benefit the American people. Congress is the enemy of the people. I swore an oath to defend this country against enemies of America, internal enemies like almost every member of Congress. Especially Pelosi, Fineswine & Boxer. These are criminals. Write them, tell them you will not accept any tariff against Chinese products. Electric cars help lower CO2 emissions. Electric cars help lower our carbon footprint. I don't care who makes the best electric car. I want one now. China is doing more to prevent climate chaos that the US is. Americans should be able to buy any product we want. Americans should be able to travel to any country we want to. Who does Congress think they are trying to block us from buying affordable electric cars at the best price we can find? Congress is just prostitutes for the junk auto industry. Stop making gas guzzling cars. Make a better, more affordable electric Ford. If Henry Ford was alive, he would build one working people can afford. Why are they afraid of competition? If this makes ...

Watch Killing the Electric Car - USA Video Killing the Electric Car - USA
Feb 18, 2012
Sep 2006 Did General Motors deliberately sabotage the marketing of electric cars because they threatened the motor industry? That's the allegation made in a controversial new documentary. Ten years ago, GM unveiled the EV1 -- the first electric car for the mass market. "The EV1 was really special because it was cool and fast and fun to drive," states former GM marketer Chelsea Sexton. "These cars were so good, they would challenge the status quo of the oil industry." But despite their popularity among owners, GM quickly pulled the plug on its new product. It claims there was simply no mass market. "You could only go 100 miles before you had to recharge it so had to adapt your lifestyle to meet the needs of the vehicle," states spokesman Dave Barthmuss. But other workers believe GM never intended the EV1s to work and were more interested in promoting Hummers. "We got indications along the way that they weren't as sincere as they would have people believe," states Sexton. All the EV1s had been leased, instead of sold, to their owners. When the leases expired, GM refused to renew them and sent the cars to be crushed. But demand for electric cars keeps on growing. Some enthusiasts have converted their own cars to run on electricity and claim they have invented a battery that will last for 500km. Produced by SBS/Dateline Distributed by Journeyman Pictures
